Ladder of Inference Exercise Handout
A structured reflection framework to help leaders slow down their thinking, distinguish facts from interpretation, and act with awareness rather than reactivity. Use this exercise to walk down the ladder of inference—starting from observable data and examining how you select information, add meaning, make assumptions, form conclusions, and take action. Apply these guiding reflection questions to a current high-stakes situation, either individually or with your team, to challenge assumptions, expand possibilities, and choose your response deliberately.
